JB Cole holds a masters of social work from the University of Washington. He graduated with a focus in Multi-Cultural and Ethnic Practice and is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the BC College of Social Workers (BCCSW reg#10132) and a member in good standing with the BC Association of Social Workers (BCASW).
JB Cole has been a member in good standing for over 10 years. This requires a strict adherement to a Code of Ethics and receiving on-going professional development.
A Note From JB Cole
My counselling practise provides help for children age 5-13, play therapy and individual counselling for teens and adults in an approach that combines Cognitive Behavior (CBT), Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, Emotion-Focused and down-to-earth conversations around change and noticing patterns that limit our full possibility.
As a member of the Kelowna community since 2007, I work collaboratively with Parents, Families, Children, Adolescents and Individuals. I have worked in medical settings, rural community-based, within schools and preschools to teach emotional and behavioural skills. I enjoy facilitating groups and continue to champion a strengths-based approach for meeting life’s challenges.
For the past 2 years, I have been affiliated with the YMCA Mindfulness programs as a facilitator and contributor to this important community program. I have completed mindfulness-based training and I am a certified facilitator of SMART – Stress Management And Resiliency Training (UBC).
In addition, I worked as a medical caseworker for the International Rescue Committee a refugee resettlement agency for 5 years.
